Hi,
There’s not much I can tell you without seeing it, but here’s some things to try:
1. You should see any geocoding errors, but it’s worth trying with an unrestricted (no IP or referer restrictions) Google API key (or switch to Leaflet).2. If you are using custom post types: check that your post types are checked in the ‘post types’ setting just above the geocoding, and make sure your post types are enabled for the “REST API”
3. Some field plugins will display the custom field title, not its slug. Double check the custom field names, or look in the database using a tool like phpMyAdmin (the table is wp_postmeta).
If that doesn’t help, feel free to use the contact form to email me directly to share screenshots or a login to the site.
The map table is mapp_maps. You can export and import to the new site, and update the ‘oid’ (object ID) column to assign to the correct post(s). If possible, it’s best to also updated the oid in the JSON (‘obj’) column, but I don’t think it’s required.
Hi Morten,
It’s true, this has been on my to-do list for many years. It’s near the bottom, since it’s not often requested. I still tried to implement this several times, but it wasn’t easy: because MapPress supports both Leaflet and Google, and uses a number of custom controls (POI list, search, etc.) the default Google fullscreen control didn’t work.
However, browser support has now improved for the fullscreen API. So when I saw your note I decided to try again, and I’ve implemented a beautiful fullscreen control.
If you’d like to try it, please contact me by email and I’ll install the new version for you to test. I’ll need a login for your main site or a test/staging site if you prefer.
Thanks for your patience.
Hi,
Please see: “map doesn’t display” in the MapPress FAQ.
If you’ve followed the instructions there and the map still doesn’t display, please send a login – preferably to a staging site with the same problem. I’ll deactivate everything and try to trace the problem for you.
Hi,
Yes, that mashup will only display posts that have a MapPress map linked to them (otherwise it would not know the post’s location).
Hi,
I assume you’ve read the documentation.
Here’s the steps:
- 1In the MapPress settings filter section, you can choose category, tags or any other taxonomy.
- The filters only apply to mashups. So, create 1 post per location and add a map to each post with its location.
- Then create a post or page for the mashup. If you’re using Gutenberg, there’s a mashup block. In the classic editor, you can use a shortcode. This one will display all maps:
[mashup query="all"]
I hope that helps!
Hi Connie,
Sorry, but BBPress doesn’t always notify me of new topics. You have my email too if you need to write me directly 🙂
To answer your questions:
- Yes, you can use Google and Leaflet on the same site (although with MapPress you must pick one or the other)
- Yes, of course. The only difference is that Leaflet doesn’t support shape drawing tools (polygons, etc.)
- Mapbox may have a bad website, but they have nice-looking map tiles. Unlike Google, I don’t think they install any cookies, so no GDPR conflicts.
And of course – you can also use Complianz if you’d like to continue with Google.
Hi,
I replied to your email, but in case you’re checking here, there’s some CSS that is causing the map to have zero height. I think it’s because it applies to all divs in the content area (style.scss:233) :
#content div {
position: relative;
}
You could either change that rule or override it for just the map divs.
Hi,
Can you provide a URL so I can see the (missing) map in question?
Also, a login would be helpful so I can trace the custom code. You can use the contact form to send it to me directly.
November 9, 2022 at 1:18 pm in reply to: Order mashup POI list based on category when multiple categories #19775Hi Ben,
That’s a great question, but I’m sorry – there’s no way to modify the POI list like that. It’s generated in the frontend and there aren’t any ‘hooks’ to control the structure, other than the template for the list items.
As a workaround:
– you could use a mashup filter by category. Users could then select one or more categories and a POI will appear (once) if it’s in any of the selected categories.
– or, you could show a list of categories under the POI title, i.e. “historic, seasonal”. To do that, fetch the list of assigned categories into a POI prop and then include it in the list or popup templates. It would require a little ABAP code, as described in the documentation.
Hi Ben,
No problem, thanks for asking. There are two MapPress settings for this:
1- ‘hover’ in the ‘POIs’ section opens the popup when a POI is hovered
2- ‘highlight selected POI’ in the ‘Icons’ section applies one of 3 different effects to apply when a POI is hovered
There was a bug preventing #2 from working if #1 wasn’t set, so I’m glad you followed up. It should be fixed in 2.84.10.
Hi,
I’ve added the Leaflet files back into the core plugin in 2.84.9, so hopefully that should solve that GDPR issue.
Hi,
I’ve just published 2.84.8, which I think will fix this. But if it doesn’t, please go ahead and send that login.
Thanks
Hi,
Thanks for reporting that! I’ll fix it ASAP.
Are you using Leaflet or Google Maps? And can you provide a URL where I can see the problem? (You can use the contact form if you don’t want to post it here).
Hi,
I removed some of the libraries because the plugin was getting too large.
I’ve been working on integrating MapPress with the ‘Coplianz’ plugin for GDPR. That plugin should block Leaflet until users accept cookies. Do you think that might work for you?
If not, I can add a setting if you’d like to serve the files locally. You’ll need to download them and keep them up to date.
