Great solution! I was trying to think of an API event, and it didn’t even occur to me to use the elements on the page.
Anyway, I’m glad you got it working, and thank you for sharing the answer.
Hi,
I’m sorry, but there’s no JavaScript API or event available to expose the marker clicks for something like this.
I can look into adding one for the next major release, but it’s a few months away.
Hi,
Because the MapPress script is already minified, most ‘optimizer’ plugins can’t combine it, and it needs to be excluded. The Google Maps API generally needs to be excluded for the same reason. The scripts to exclude are listed here:
https://mappresspro.com/mappress-faq/
The MapPress script is loaded with a script tag, it’s not inline, but some map data may appear inline on the page.
Hi,
I’ve installed version 2.73, which should fix the Firefox problem. There are also many other unrelated changes – see the readme.txt in the plugin directory for details.
I tested forcing auto-updates, but unfortunately it seemed to work normally. Please leave it on manual update for a while, and let’s see if the same thing happens when you manually update from the ‘plugins’ screen. If it does, we can narrow down the exact steps to reproduce it – and then fix it.
Please let me know how 2.73 works for you, and if everything looks good I’ll publish it so it can be installed on your other site(s).
Hi,
If you’d like to send a login, I’ll have a look at the updates.
The thumbnail display in the popup is based on a quirk, which works in Chrome but is apparently unsupported in Firefox. I’ve updated the CSS and it should be fixed in the next release (which I can install for you to try). It doesn’t look as good on smaller screens, but it’s consistent between both browsers.
Hi,
The plugin will revert to the free version if it’s deactivated before updating. But it should work fine if you’ve entered your license key in the MapPress settings screen and use the normal WordPress auto-update.
I’m not sure what you meant about the description not showing. I see the thumbnail and text at this URL:
Hi John,
The problem is the plugin has reverted to the free version (that sometimes happens if it’s deactivated before it’s updated).
You can just reinstall the Pro version from your account and everything should work again:

Hi,
Thanks for letting me know! The dashes aren’t a problem, but there was an error in the 2.69.7 release. It should now be fixed with 2.69.8.
Hi,
Thanks for catching that, the nopriv issue is fixed in the next version, 2.64. It should be available tomorrow.
Hi,
For maps, you should be able to just drag the POI into the first position in the list in the map editor. It’ll always open the first POI.
For mashups, you can user an ‘orderby’ clause in the query to order by various fields – see the link below for a list from the WP Codex:
https://developer.wordpress.org/reference/classes/wp_query/
Hi,
I don’t have that page builder, do you have a link to it?
If not, could you please send an admin login for the system in question, or for a staging system with the same issue?
I did see that, but I think this is correct. The attribute in the shortcode is ‘query’ so its value should be in double quotes:
query=”post_type=preserve”
I still can’t pan the map at the original URL. Did you make the change there yet?
https://www.mcht.org/visit-a-preserve/Hi,
I’m glad it’s working, but it’s strange – it looks to me like the first shortcode is actually the correct one.
Hi,
Sounds like maybe the page is being cached or there’s a JavaScript error from another plugin. I do see some errors in the console.
Please give this a try:
- Disable all plugins except MapPress. Check your maps again. If they’re working, re-activate one by one until you find the error.
- If that didn’t help, try a standard theme. Install and activate one of the WordPress themes, like “twenty twenty”. Check your maps again. If they’re working, it’s a theme problem.
Hi,
Sorry for my slow reply. I did look at the site, but I’m not able to display the map – I get an “access is restricted” error when it tries to query.
What are you clicking exactly? Is it some part of the site’s main menu?
