Hi,
The parameter you’re looking for is ‘layout’ and it can be either ‘left’ or ‘inline’ (or don’t specify it to use the default).
For example:
[mappress mapid="1" layout="left"]Hi, you can find the available older versions on the ‘downloads’ tab of your account.
The Algolia search is working as far as I know, but it sounds like there’s some conflict on your site. If you’d like to provide a URL where I can see the problem I’ll take a look.
Hi,
You should be able to copy the icon assignments from the old system.
The radius search-in-a-tab is going to require an update. I’ll let you know as soon as it’s available.
Hi,
For the icons, were you using some rules to assign them based on taxonomy?
If so – you may need to re-create the rules on the MapPress settings screen. The automatic icon assignment structure changed quite a while ago and any existing rules would need to be re-created.
For example, this map doesn’t appear to have been saved with a specific icon, so I’m guessing it’s either assigned through the MapPress settings or via some PHP?

POI title can be mapped to a custom field in the MapPress settings screen. If you have a custom field called, for example, “mytitle”, you can map it there.
If you’re asking if you can automatically create map POIs using the post title, then the answer is no – but there’s a setting ‘POI content’ that will tell the plugin to always show the post title & excerpt instead of the POI info.
Maps can be generate from custom fields. This is documented in the MapPress and TurboCSV docs:
Hi,
If you provide a URL with a map I’ll have a look. As a first step, try clearing your browser cache.
Hi,
I think that’s 3 issues:
1) The search showing all locations seems to be because the hidden tab is auto-centering between all POIs when it’s displayed (i.e. if it was displayed initially, it would work). I’ll have a look into fixing that.
2) The plugin was changed to always use a new tab, but the documentation wasn’t updated. The change was made so the map wouldn’t recenter if the user goes to the target page and then back to the original.
3) I can’t say about the icons, I’d need to see an example on the test site, so please send a demo URL when you have it ready.
Hi,
I can only guess, but this could be caused by the map not being centered at the exact lat/lng of the POI (I assume you’re centering on a POI?). Or, it could be the map isn’t displaying at the correct size, in which can you’ll need to call the resize() method.
There’s an example of creating a map using PHP do_shortocde(), you can do the same for a mashup – but why not just use the shortcode in your post instead?
Sorry – one other thought to further simplify this:
If your external data is stored in custom fields, you can use the MapPress geocoding function to generate a map in each post from those fields. Maps can be bulk generated by publishing multiple posts from the WordPress posts list screen.
Once the maps are generated, they can be displayed using the mashup tag without any custom code:
[mashup query="all"]Hi,
The javascript code isn’t an API for external use – it’s not documented and subject to change at any time. And it seems like reinventing the wheel – mashups already query based on their bounds, center, set POIs, etc.
If you want to continue calling the javascript directly, you can use method ‘setPois’ to load POIs in bulk.
Instead, I’d suggest using filter
mappress_query_filter. Set up a mashup with a query like this:
[mashup query="custom"]Then use the filter to set the mashup’s POIs to whatever you like before they are returned from the AJAX call. The call will repeat each time the map is moved. You can see the filter in file ‘mappress_query.php’.
Hi,
The map doesn’t center when an icon is clicked, but it moves to make room for the popup. Both Leaflet and Google work this way by default.
You cannot use parent pages for filtering, but you could assign parents+children to the same taxonomy (categories, tags, or a custom taxonomy) and use that.
If you are familiar with PHP, you could also use filter
mappress_query_filterto adjust the query results based on the filters. Please see file ‘mappress_query’ to see where that filter is called.Hi,
I’m sorry, but the initialopeninfo parameter is not supported for mashups, only for individual maps.
The code needed to make it work with mashups is convoluted, so it’s not something I currently plan to implement, but if others need that functionality please comment here and let me know.
Hi,
Just to be clear: center/zoom for mashups was removed many versions ago, and a lot has changed since then. Adding it back requires new development, not just a patch or a bug fix.
I think I have it working, but I’d like to test it before it’s published. Could you please use the contact form to send me an email with your blog URL and an admin login? That way I can install the latest version for you to test.
