ParticipantI’m having several other issues as well. All my custom icons seem to have disappeared. This could be completely my fault. And, when I click on a poi in a mashup, it opens the correct poi, but in a new tab. I checked, and I do not have that option checked in the backend.

This was working before updating to the latest version of mappress. It would only pull those sites that showed up within 25 miles. To see this, visit link above and click on the tab under all the trail icons that says “Lodging and Outfitters.” It is now displaying all the icons.

ParticipantI had to revert to the original version, so hang on until tomorrow when I can get this set up on a test server to show you the issue. Sorry about that!

KeymasterHi,
I think that’s 3 issues:
1) The search showing all locations seems to be because the hidden tab is auto-centering between all POIs when it’s displayed (i.e. if it was displayed initially, it would work). I’ll have a look into fixing that.
2) The plugin was changed to always use a new tab, but the documentation wasn’t updated. The change was made so the map wouldn’t recenter if the user goes to the target page and then back to the original.
3) I can’t say about the icons, I’d need to see an example on the test site, so please send a demo URL when you have it ready.

ParticipantHere’s the link to the way things work on the site once the newest version is installed. http://trailstestsite.wpengine.com/trail/10-mine-trail/
And here’s the way it looked before installing the update: https://alabamarecreationtrails.org/trail/10-mine-trail/
The big issue is that it lost my custom icons on the upgrade. That and the radius issue. Any help is appreciated!

KeymasterHi,
For the icons, were you using some rules to assign them based on taxonomy?
If so – you may need to re-create the rules on the MapPress settings screen. The automatic icon assignment structure changed quite a while ago and any existing rules would need to be re-created.
For example, this map doesn’t appear to have been saved with a specific icon, so I’m guessing it’s either assigned through the MapPress settings or via some PHP?

ParticipantYes, I assigned them using the mappress interface. I can reassign them all if needed…. Wasn’t sure if I was just missing something. It was done with taxonomy. I’ll have to refresh my memory on that. Any work around on the radius issue?

KeymasterHi,
You should be able to copy the icon assignments from the old system.
The radius search-in-a-tab is going to require an update. I’ll let you know as soon as it’s available.

KeymasterHi,
I have an update that may work for the search in the hidden tab.
If you’d like to give it a try, please send a login (preferably to your test system) using the contact form, and I’ll install the new version for you so we can test it.

ParticipantThanks Chris, I see that the radius is working to center. In the old version, it actually only loaded the pinpoints that were within range. Does loading all the pinpoints on each page have an impact in how many calls to Google Maps the website is making? IE, is it going to impact cost for using Google Maps? Currently, I’m under the threshold.
Thanks!January 6, 2019 at 7:40 am #18139Chris
KeymasterI don’t think this has any impact on Google usage. I believe their quota is based on the number of maps displayed, not the number of markers/pins.
