Hi,
MapPress doesn’t do any geocoding itself – it uses either Algolia Places or Google geocoders, based on which ‘engine’ you select in the settings.
Algolia is only accurate to the street level – not to individual street numbers. I think that’s why the marker is in the wrong place for 383 Woodbury Ave.
For the next version of MapPress I’ll add the MapBox and OSM geocoders, which seem to be more accurate than Algolia. I’ll also include a MapPress setting to allow you select which geocoder to use.
If you use the contact form to email me, I’ll send you a preview version to test as soon as it’s ready – later this week.
Until then, you could also switch to Google instead of Leaflet in the MapPress settings. Google has the best geocoder, but it requires an API key and has usage limits.
Hi, sorry, but no – there’s no automatic fix yet, but I’ll add it to my development list to find a solution for this.
Hi,
Yes, that should work fine. I tried this simple version using a field called ‘aliases’ (I think your field is ‘annonce_surface’) and it worked for me:
[mashup query="meta_key=aliases&meta_value=482&meta_compare=>="]
Hi,
1., You can set mashups to show either the POI title or the post title in the MapPress settings screen. For automatic maps, the POI title is the address or lat/lng used to generate the POI.
2. Also on the settings screen, you can specify a thumbnail size.
I think I see the problem – there is no ‘style’ attribute for shortcodes. Once you set up your custom style in the MapPress settings, you use it in a shortcode with the ‘maptypeid’ attribute:
[mashup maptypeid="preserves1" query="all"]
Hi,
The instructions have changed: the ability to specify custom styles is now part of the MapPress settings screen. Have you looked at the docs section for this already?

Hi,
If you display multiple POIs at the exact same location, the markers will overlay each other – is that what is happening? In this case users will need to select from the list, or you can manually move the markers slightly apart in the underlying maps.

.mapp-menu-toggle { display: none; }
May 2, 2019 at 6:06 am in reply to: Generating automatic maps from custom fields for all posts in a custom post type #18279Hi,
I’m glad you figured it out. If it helps, there’s some info about this in the documentation. One approach is to configure the custom field in the MapPress settings, then save the post(s). The plugin will generate a map for each post.
You can then enable automatic map display to show each post’s map when the post is viewed, or use a mashup to combine them.
Hi,
You can do calculations, but you’ll need to pass the resulting value to the template. There are two ways to do this:
1) Calculate the value when a post is saved (using the WP ‘save_post’ action). Store the result in a custom field. Then, you can display the custom field in the template.
2) There’s a MapPress filter to do these calculations whenever the map is displayed. This should get you started if you want to take that approach:
https://mappresspro.com/mappress-documentation/#toc-mappress-templatingHi,
I’ve seen problems myself with OSM tiles not loading sometimes. I think their servers may get overloaded, but I’m not sure how often this happens.
Have you tried using MapBox tiles instead? They’re technically not free, but their free usage limits are very high – and they look a lot better and have more detail than the OSM tiles.
Hi, I’m sorry but this isn’t currently possible – I’ve been wanting to do it for a long time, but I have some other development to complete first. I was thinking of doing a highlight around the selected marker, or a special marker to indicate the selection, rather than a tooltip.
Hi,
This error can be caused by several things, but two common problems are:
1. The MapPress server couldn’t be reached
2. The plugin directory can’t be deleted – sometimes WordPress seems to apply invalid permissions to the plugin directory.
For #1, just retry the update.
For #2, try deleting the plugin directory using FTP (your maps won’t be deleted). Then reinstall from your account (there are installation instructions on the same page):
http://mappresspro.com/accountHi,
License updates can take up to 24 hours to show in the settings. This won’t affect the plugin’s functionality.
I’ll add a way to update immediately for a future version of the plugin.
To manually force a check, save the settings with the license blank. Then re-enter it and save again.
Hi,
Are you sure you’re placing the MapPress license in the settings field marked ‘MapPress license key’? I ask because it’s sometimes easy to place it in the MapBox license or Google license fields by accident.
I tested your license key and it worked for me. Perhaps the server was down when the key was checked? Give it another try (delete the license key, save the MapPress settings, and then re-enter it and save again).
If it’s still not working, you can send a login and I’ll have a look.
I don’t know about Wordfence, but normally once the license key has been set, you can use automatic update or go to your plugins screen and update the plugin there directly – no need to manually install.
