Hi Chris,
Thank you so much for your response.
I think that did work for me, before I installed the “advanced tinymce” plugin. I know at one time using the html version worked as you said. I don’t remember now for sure. I just deleted that plugin and still does not work in html mode. I am wondering if there was something left behind.
I also found this link https://www.leighton.com/blog/stop-tinymce-in-wordpress-3-x-messing-up-your-html-code and tried adding it to my functions file but that didn’t work either.
Anyhow that is where I am at this point and will post here again if I figure it out.
Sorry about that link, it looked like this…
href=”#” onclick=”mapp0.getPoi(8).open(); return false;”
Hi Guys!
I have done border drawings for neighborhoods and zones through the Mappress Pro editor/creator and it actually works pretty well. There are some tricks to it like if you are drawing lines you need to click the line icon again to stop. The Mappress settings page also applies to the editor in that you need to set keyboard scrolling so when drawing a pollyline you can move the map around. The map editor is really small but works great. I did wish for that enlargement in the future wish list forum.
You can’t draw kml/kmz files at the Google Maps site but you can draw them in Google Earth. I drew some there but I actually like Mappress better. It is easier, and when using a kml or kmz the content of the info-window is made when creating the original file so the Mappress editor cannot be used for that.
Yes, that did it!
Thank you so much for your hard work and expertise!Hi Chris, sorry for the delay. Here is a link to a page where I put a mashup shortcode and the POI div below it. I am using Mappress ver 3.43.6.
http://mx01.travelncruise.net/mexico/map-test-page/
Everything works fine except the post title shows instead of the poi title. It doesn’t matter how the Mappress admin page is set or even if I use the shortcode attribute to force the poi title.
[wpv-post-title][mashup query="post_type=markers,business,place&marker-type=shopping,dining,lodging&area=puerto-vallarta" width="100%" height="400px" initialTransit="true" initialTraffic="true" poiList="true" mashupTitle="poi" iwType="iw" ]
<div id=’mapp0_poi_list’ style=”padding:0 !important;background-color:rgba(255,255,255,0.4);margin:15px 0 0 0;padding:5px;overflow:auto; width:100%; height:250px;”></div>
Thank you!!
Chris, I am so sorry, the icon field works!
It must have been cached as it just showed up when I looked at the map editor then showed up on the post too.Hi Chris,
I set the code within the Mappress admin window on my sites so nothing shows, but Google has perfect example if anyone goes to the Google map styler at…
http://gmaps-samples-v3.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/styledmaps/wizard/index.html
…then go to a shopping mall or paste this in the location field…
Bellis Fair Pkwy Bellingham, WA
…then on the left, under ‘feature type’ click ‘point of interest’, then ‘business’ and when they are highlighted go down to ‘visibility’ and click ‘off’.
That sets the JSON code to turn off the business POIs but if you zoom to the mall area you can see ‘laura’s alterations’ and other markers if you move around the map.
Hope that helps,
Thank you!Hi Chris,
I have used the JSON on the Google map styler and was using the JSON code you recommend that removes business markers. The few markers that still show even show on their styler. The remaining markers mostly have the icon with a dark square within a circle. There are only a few which makes me think that those markers may not be categorized and so not applicable to JSON styling filters. Too bad because the markers info window links to the business website.
Anyhow I am now using JSON to remove all of the styling which does remove those questionable POI markers. Here it is for anyone interested…
[ { “featureType”: “poi”, “stylers”: [ { “visibility”: “off” } ] } ]
…or you can just remove “.business” from the JSON code in the Mappress documentation.
Thank you!
KellyChris,
Thanks for the update, a taxonomy mashup works fine now.
KellyHi Chris,
It’s working fine now!
Thanks,
KellyThanks Chris!
I think the less posts the better.In your experience how may posts (with a map) does a site have before it slows down or mysql database gets too big? How about 2,000 or so?
I know server, caching, etc. matter but just a best case guess?
Do you recommend a caching program for WP for this?
Thank you so much for your time, I learned a lot here.
Oops, forgot the notification box.
Hey Chris,
I have it working now. Your code would have worked but when I copied it over the apostrophes were the old left-right type so I typed over them and works great now.
Thank you!

* For anyone interested here is the code for custom icons I am using…
function myiconid($iconid, $poi) {
global $post;
$postid = ($poi->postid) ? $poi->postid : $post->ID;if (has_term(‘custom-taxonomy’, ‘custom-post-type’, $postid))
return ‘custom-map-icon.png’;return $iconid;
}
add_filter(‘mappress_poi_iconid’, ‘myiconid’, 10, 2);* Icons loaded up to the “icons” folder somewhere within the “uploads” folder.
Hi Chris,
Wow, thanks for the really fast reply.
I still get the default, that is whatever is set to default in the Mappress admin page. Everything works great except uploaded icons. Works ok for archives and single pages too, as long as a default icon is used in the code above.
Hi Chris,
Is it possible to show maps from one site on a second site via a feed?
I have custom posts (business) with a map connected to each. I don’t care to load the posts or maps to the second site but just be able to show the taxonomy mashups. Both sites would have the same types, taxonomies, fields etc. Possibly show original maps on the second site and add maps to that site from the first site?
Thank you so much for all of your kind help,
Kelly -
