Are you looking at exactly the same location in both instances?
I don’t know what the form_to_mappress shortcode is doing, but it must be creating a MapPress shortcode at some point. Is it possible it’s not passing through the zoom level setting to the MapPress shortcode?
If you could provide a URL of a working map and a URL of a non-working map at the same location, I can at least tell you if the non-working version received the zoom setting.
September 15, 2014 at 4:37 pm in reply to: Zoom levels not working with Satellite maps + Formidable #15178Hi,
What you may be seeing is actually a limitation of Google maps: the maximum zoom for satellite images is often much lower than for road maps.
I think this is because they don’t have satellite imagery beyond a certain level. The maximum will also vary from one place to another, depending on how detailed the images are at that location.
Hi,
The page you linked doesn’t seem to have any maps or mashups, and the only resource being loaded by MapPress is a small CSS file (‘mappress.css’).
It seems like delay is on the server itself. It’s taking about 7 seconds to respond initially and again when this resource is loaded:
http://www.sensorgrafie.de/?atwpostscss=1&ver=4.0One possible cause is the server is running out of memory. When this happens, activating another plugin can cause push you over the memory limit. See the FAQ for some suggestions about adjusting memory limits.
Another possibility is PHP or Apache errors during the page requests. You can check the server PHP and Apache error logs to see if that’s happening.
Here are some steps additional steps to troubleshoot the problem:
1. Switch to a standard theme
2. Deactivate ALL other plugins except MapPressIf that fixes the issue, reactivate one by one to find the problem. If not, you can send me a login (you can use the contact form on this site) and I’ll take a look from the admin screens.
September 8, 2014 at 3:59 am in reply to: Entering in GPS coordinates changes to physical address #15150Thanks for the example, I think I see the problem now: there’s no comma between the latitude and longitude. If they’re not separated with a comma, the entry is treated as an address and gets (reverse) geocoded.
To keep the original coordinates, try entering it like this:
45.480238, -122.631310September 6, 2014 at 5:19 am in reply to: Entering in GPS coordinates changes to physical address #15142Are you entering this value in a custom field?
If so: try configuring custom fields for lat/lng instead of (or in addition to) address in the MapPress settings. If you specify a lat and lng value, the plugin won’t geocode but it will use any value in the ‘address’ field.
September 5, 2014 at 1:09 pm in reply to: Entering in GPS coordinates changes to physical address #15138Hi,
I’m not sure I understand. Usually if you edit a map and add a POI with coordinates like “-32,22” the plugin will keep those coordinates in the POI. They’re converted to an address only when you request driving directions.
What coordinates are you entering? And where do you see it changing to a street address?
Hi,
It may be the quotes around ‘true’. Try:
$mymap = new Mappress_Map(array("width" => 222, "height" =>290,"poilist" => true, "directions" => "none")); ... echo $mymap->display();Hi,
The reason for the error is that the data is actually PHP serialized objects – not JSON. You can retrieve it using the functions in file ‘mappress_map.php’, or using the PHP unserialize() function:
http://php.net/manual/en/function.unserialize.phpHi,
For responsive settings, you can use width=”100%” (as you’ve done) and adaptive=”true”. The latter just recenters the map if the screen size changes.
I think the white strip is coming from the theme – some themes apply styles to tables or images. You could try renaming the theme’s style.css and see if it’s still happening.
There are some mashup examples in the MapPress documentation. For two categories I think you’d want to use category__in=a,b. The WP_Query syntax is listed here if it helps:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Class_Reference/WP_QueryHi,
For the custom fields: if you provide both address and lat/lng, the plugin will store the address but it won’t use it for geocoding. If you provide just the address, the plugin will geocode it.
You can test you’ve set everything up correctly by entering the custom fields manually in a post and publishing it. You should see a map named ‘automatic’ is generated. Note that fields starting with underscore ‘_’ are hidden by WordPress, so you’ll need to pick a name that begins with a letter like ‘lat’ or ‘lng’.
The iconid is either a standard icon (‘red-dot’) or the name of your own custom file (‘myicon.png’). There are sections in the documentation about custom icons and iconids.
Hi, that’s a common problem – please see the FAQ for some tips:
http://mappresspro.com/mappress-faqHi,
That ‘gray box’ problem usually only occurs in hidden containers, like hidden tabs in a tab control. I haven’t seen that problem occur in the widget area before.
Do you have a URL so I can see the problem?
If the issue is a javascript control then the mapp0.resize() call goes in the javascript code for the control. But I can’t tell you where to put it because all controls are different. For tabs I do have a workaround in the plugin – it will respond to the tab show events if you use jQuery UI tabs or a plugin based on that library.
Hi,
I’m sorry to hear they’ve given up, especially since the issue is specific to that server.
The debug output looks like just the code for the WordPress admin bar, so it doesn’t offer much in the way of clues.
I have two suggestions:
1. Check the apache and PHP logs around the time of an error, they are critical for solving this kind of problem.
2. Run some tests with your other plugins deactivated and using a standard theme. It’s possible the issue is caused by some other code.
Finally, if you can find some sequence of steps to reproduce the failure that would be a big help – intermittent issues are always tough. If not the logs (#1) will help.
Ok, got it. That’s called the ‘overview map’. There’s a checkbox on the MapPress settings screen to disable it.
What is the planisphere?
