WordPress Map Directions

Help visitors get to you. Every MapPress map can show a directions link in its popups and location list, and the route opens in Google Maps with turn-by-turn directions. It’s free, and works whichever map engine your site uses.

Try it: click a location, then Get Directions.

How it works

  • Directions link. Show “Get Directions” in popups, in the location list, or both.
  • Straight to Google Maps. The link opens the route to that location in Google Maps, on desktop or in the phone’s Maps app.
  • Or ask for a starting point first. Inline directions show a small from/to box on the map, starting from the visitor’s location, with a button to swap the direction.
  • Your own wording. Change the link text, for example to “Plan your visit”.
  • Any map engine. Directions work on OpenStreetMap, Google Maps and Mapbox maps.

Add it to your site

  1. In MapPress › Settings › Directions, choose Google or Inline.
  2. Choose whether the link shows in popups, the list, or both, and optionally change its text.

FAQ

How do I add a “get directions” button to a map in WordPress?
MapPress adds a directions link to map popups automatically. Turn it on for the location list in Settings › Directions.

Does it give turn-by-turn directions?
Yes. The route opens in Google Maps, which gives turn-by-turn directions by car, transit, bike or on foot.

Do directions need a Google Maps API key?
No. The link opens Google Maps directly, so no key is needed, even on OpenStreetMap maps.

Is it free?
Yes. Directions are part of the free version.

Free vs Pro: directions are free. The map above is a Pro mashup of several locations.
