Show visitors where they are and what’s near them. Every MapPress map has a location button, and with Pro the map can start at the visitor’s current location automatically.
Your browser will ask to share your location. Allow it and the map centers on you.
How it works
- “Your Location” button. Every map has a button that centers the map on the visitor. Free.
- Start where the visitor is. With Pro, maps can open centered on the visitor’s current location.
- Blue dot. Show the visitor’s position as a blue circle on the map.
- Combine with search. Visitors who don’t share their location can type an address instead (see map search).
Add it to your site
- In MapPress › Settings › Geolocate, turn on Center on user location when map is displayed and, if you like, the blue user location circle.
- Or start one map at the visitor’s location with
center="user".

FAQ
How do I make a “near me” map in WordPress?
Turn on Geolocate in MapPress Settings so maps start at the visitor’s location, and use the location list or search to show the nearest places.
Why doesn’t the location button work on my site?
Browsers only share location with secure (https) sites, and the visitor has to allow it.
Does it track my visitors?
No. The location stays in the visitor’s browser to center the map. MapPress doesn’t store it.
Free vs Pro: the location button is free. Starting the map at the visitor’s location and the blue location circle are part of Pro.
