Hi Chris, love the plugin. However, I use a custom template for displaying the mashup pop-up. It seems to get reset after any update, and I find myself having to copy/paste the code back in. I doubt that this is intended behaviour, but I don’t how to retain my changes between updates. I can see the path sits inside the Bricks theme folder, so I am assuming it is Bricks updates that are potentially deleting the file/not copying it, and then MapPress resorts to using the default settings again.

What is the best approach to prevent this reset while still being able to run normal WordPress updates? (Apologies if the answer is plainly obvious and I’m just being dense lol.)

        Hi,

I think you’re right – MapPress saves templates to the theme directory, so they’re probably being overwritten during theme updates.

The solution is a child theme.  It’s used to hold your own customizations (functions.php changes, or in this case your MapPress templates), and theme updates don’t overwrite it:

        1. Create an empty Bricks child theme (see Bricks’ Child Theme guide).
        2. Back up your existing theme, then activate the child theme, and re-save the MapPress template.
